2021 has been a historic year for Porsche. The prestigious German brand has indeed reached a significant milestone: 300,000 cars sold. Presented in 2019, the Taycan (the first electric Porsche) is part of this success, with just over 41,000 copies sold in 2021.
And the rise of the electric sports car has only just begun, with the arrival of new versions. After the launch 2021 of the Cross Turismo, the Taycan family now sees the arrival of the Sport Turismo version. The Taycan Sport Turismo prides itself on combining the versatility/practicality of the Cross Turismo with the dynamic qualities of the sedan.
It was in Sardinia (the Italian island of beauty) that I had the chance to try the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, in Turbo and GTS versions. My test of the best electric station wagon on the market!
The Most Beautiful Taycan!
If the Taycan Sport Turismo uses the break bodywork of the Cross Turismo, it leaves aside the "adventurer" attributes of the Cross Turismo, in favour of a purer line, and even more dynamic.
With a sacred
presence, the Taycan Sport Turismo has a particularly slender silhouette (it is
all the more remarkable that it stretches almost 5 meters long -4.96 m to be
precise-). The famous
Porsche's “flying” (understand the receding roof line) is part of it. We are far, very far from the breaks cut with a sickle!
The GTS version has specific aerodynamic appendages, like the body skirts, and branded GTS.
A High-Flying Interior, And Real Practical Aspects
The Taycan Sport Turismo takes up the dashboard of the sedan. Even if the screens abound at present, the Taycan pushes the cursor even further in this area, offering a real "wow effect" . At the front, and counting the optional screen for the passenger, there are no less than four screens available to the occupants!
We appreciate the curved instrument panel, which is a nice nod to the 911. The Taycan also has a steering wheel similar in all respects to that of the most illustrious Porsche: we will see below that this choice is not insignificant.
The quality of the finish is exceptional, without a false note, regardless of where you look.
History to press well on their differences, the trimmings used are specific to the version chosen: “Race-Tex” for the GTS (a material similar to Alcantara), and leather for the Turbo.
The Taycan Sport Turismo inaugurates a brilliant panoramic roof with variable occultation, charged 5,088 Euros. Called "sunshine control" , it can go from clear to opaque (and vice versa) in a few seconds, thanks to liquid crystal technology.
Compared to the sedan, the Taycan Sport Turismo prides itself on offering more space on board (+ 45 mm at the rear in particular), and a more accessible and spacious trunk (about 40 litres more than the sedan version). More than enough to consider going on vacation with your family!
